I enjoyed watching you get confused with this video haha, you pretty much got it right Basically death note is a Anime about a kid that gets a book from a demon he can write names in and that person dies. In the video you see someone writing in a book and then the people playing in the video die.
This was not my fav MTH track but the more and more i listened it ended up being my favourite, I love it

Thank you for the good reaction to pick up this song. It’s a long time ago song, but I think this song is one of the masterpieces of Maximum the Hormone. Since they are a band that evolves and transforms like the Beatles, the style of the songs changes considerably depending on the times, but the songs of this time are particularly strongly influenced by the system of down. Personally, I like the drummer’s chorus for this song.
MAAAAAN this song is awesome. It stays in my weightlifting playlist! 10/10 anime also; it’s literally one of the greatest shows I’ve ever watched in my life.

I noticed the fear and loathing in las vegas poster on your wall, there’s actually another amazing Japanese metal band called fear and loathing in las vegas! I’d highly recommended them since you like MTH so much! Some of their songs are “crossover” “virtue and vice” “counterattack by the sesame sized bodies” and “nail the shit down”. Any of those are a great listen and intro to the band! hope to see you react to them 🙂
A very good song that some parts did remind me of Linkin Park with the opening part as much as like the SOAD parts. Btw do check out Wormrot who are a Singapore band with grindcore sounds.

This is one of the ending themes for the anime of Death note, and has straight forward references to the death note through out the music video.

Check the Cover by Nemophila. This song is great
Honestly it was something as simple as that quick octave slide in the chorus that sold me on this song. It’s such a small little touch but it lends so much character to it.
I can sympathize with the older stuff not jiving as much for you (it took a while to grow on me and I still prefer the newer stuff overall) but there are some gems that really smoke for people who are working backwards like you are (and I did). Since I see you found the SECRET BACK CHANNEL I’d recommend checking out Rokkinpo Goroshi from the album before this one as a primer to see if you want to go back further. They definitely started more clearly punk and added more and more metal as they went, but that particular track hits the more intense, metal-friendly side of punk like Suicidal Tendencies or DRI in their prime.
I love MTH reactions because I like to live vicariously and relive them for the first time again, and you’re for sure one of the best at it when it comes to this band. Looking forward to each new one!
