My list of all male bands would include Ningen Isu and Seikima-II and not sure who else. Sex Machine Guns. Loudness. The first Japanese band I ever saw live was called Audio Active, back in 2000 I think – dub reggae, really good. AA= (All Animals Are Equal). OK that’s six, I’ll probably steal some of yours for the rest 😉

I’m sure I’ve told you this before, but you were the one that introduced me to Girugamesh! and I’m forever grateful to you for that.
One band that I think was similar that you might like is Deluhi.

That is quite a list. I will have to check some of those I was unaware of. I haven’t been listening to J-rock nearly as long as you, but it is almost the only type of music I buy these days. A couple others I like are Ningen Isu and My First Story. I was introduced to My First Story through a cover of their song Reviver played by the all female J-rock band TRiDENT and I found out the lead singer of MFS is the brother of the vocalist of One Ok Rock.

Im not too familiar with the male bands since the girls are the ones that have gained more popularity here in the west. However,The one band I wouldve included in your list would’ve been Galneryus

Even though we only have a few favorites that overlap, your choices and reasoning are always interesting.
And I’m always on the lookout for the next band that will make it on to my list.

ok I listened to your Girugamesh playlist and I have to say… I’ve been sleeping on them for so long and now I finally get it! THANK YOU! Amazing band, solid tracks, they have potential to be one of my favorites, my favorite track from your playlist maybe its kowareteiku sekai or fukai no yami
(I just found out that they have a track called chimera, maybe its my destiny to listen to them)

I wasnt expecting crystal lake to appear here at all, to me they are too americanized for a j-rock fan to enjoy 🤔, but thats ok, also I never got into girugamesh, most of their songs just dont speak to me (if you see my list you’ll probably understand where I came from), but I’ll listen to your playlist and maybe that will change my mind
I dont like too much to make lists because I feel I’m being unfair to other bands that I like but thats
my boomer top ten list (not a particular order, just my favorites)
1 – x japan 2 – seikima II 3 – luna sea 4 – loudness 5 – ningen isu 6 – onmyou-za 7 – wagakki band 8 – vow-wow 9 – dir en grey 10 – malice mizer

(that CRT you used to for some old music videos was cute, and your puppy was playing with a pumpking but by the end of the video it was sleeping in your bed like a baby was also cute ❤🥺)
