SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION MOVIE “To this day, I have no idea what those two Italian ladies were singing about. Truth is, I don’t want to know. Some things are left best unsaid. I would like to think they were singing about something was so beautiful it can’t be expressed in words and make your heart ache because of it.” -Red
So glad you liked this cover. Maximum The Hormone is now almost legendary (they’re still performing) in cross genre metal and inspirational to many newer Japanese bands. That is where these riffs come from. Nemophila now do quite a range of music, but definite heavier leanings – a newer band who have just released their first album “Revive” but the members are quite experienced, Saki especially.
Nemophila is amazing and one of my favorites along with Babymetal and Hanabie and Band-Maid and Lovebites. Oh also shout out to a fellow Cowboys fan and let’s hope they kick some ass this weekend.
Check out Oiran, it’s so so good
Nemo has another Maximum the Hormon3 cover in Zetsubou Billy it is Kira as well. Maximum the Hormon3 kills it I would go Yoshu Fukushu 1st.
Murata Tamu’s (むらたたむ) toddler has to be the cutest drum tech in all of metal 🙂
The backup vocals in this song are being done by the bassist Haraguchi-san (ハラグチサン)
mayu is performing the vocals of 3 different singers in this cover.
The first guitarist you paused on is SAKI, the guitarist that you commented on looking at the camera halfway through the riff is 葉月 (Hazuki).
All 5 members present their name in a different writing style.
Some suggestions from nemophila to continue the journey:
【LIVE】NEMOPHILA / OIRAN (NAONのYAON2021)
鬼灯 (Demon Light)
Nice reaction!next one《oiran》live 2021 please!
Btw, the guitarist: saki is also in two other bands “mary’s blood” and “amahiru”, mary’s blood is another successful female band, amahiru is also a good band (the former dragon force bassist is also in), another guitarist: hazuki is one of the guitarists in the “Lisa-x band”, you hope can check out these bands 😉🤘🏻
You definitely need to check out Maximum The Hormone. They have been a major influence on the Japanese metal scene for over twenty years. Be prepared for the unexpected with M.T.H. Check out the song Yoshu Fukushu..
That’s the Bassist Haraguchi doing the back up vocals. Saki are is the darker shorter hair Killer Guitar. and Hazuki is the one with the long hair in a ponytail making eye movements with an Ibanez .
Hazuki with that look with her cool guitar. OH Yes. That was my favorite part as well.
If you like this style, you should definitely check out Maximum the Hormone!!
THe fact is that some of their songs can be quite difficult to find, since they removed some of their official MV from youtube.
I would suggest you to start with “Yoshu Fukushu”, and “maximum the hormone II let’s talk about menkata cottelee” (half of the title is in Japanese)
I don’t know how familiar are you with anime, but they also did the songs for season 2 of “Death Note”, with the songs “Zetsubou Billy” and “What’s up people”
Regarding Nemophila, if you want to stay on the heavy/scream side, “Revive” and “Oiran” are for you, otherwise there are still “Raitei”, “Hypnosis” and “Demon Light” as official MV 🙂
Hey guys, I don’t think he’s heard Hanabie yet. This will be fun to watch.
Haha, Hazuki’s eyebrows!
Bonus – her winking in Dissension
As you are beginning to discover Japanese female bands are saving metal and rock music today. That is not an exaggeration. I have followed various female Japanese bands since 2014 and have read pretty much the same comments from seasoned metal heads going back to the 1970’s or earlier. They stopped listening to metal in the 1990’s but with the likes of BabyMetal, Band Maid, Lovebites and Nemophila, they have had their love of metal and rock bands reignited and are planning to see any or all of the few I mentioned. There are other female bands from Japan playing rock I have not mentioned that all play so well live, they make many a western band look lame with their four power chords and a grimaced guitar solo lasting fifteen seconds.
Here is a link for a Lovebites song called Break The Wall: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Pc0XK0lNmU&ab_channel=LB_WOLFPACK Asami, the lead singer sings all of their songs in English but it does take a while to get used to her pronunciation. That in no way is a criticism.
hazuki!!!
UAR, try Hanabie, We Love Sweets.
Nemophila’s drummer Murata Tamu is excellent drummer. Those are electric drums she’s playing (since it was recorded in her apartment/house). Put her behind a real drum kit. This cover would have sounded a whole lot different. There’s plenty of videos with Murata drumming a real drum set. She puts a lot of drummers to shame with her smile while playing the drums.
These ladies do the best covers in the world and also the most! Love them. May look into a band called Whiskey Dust, straight up 80’s style hard rock, songs- Fuckin Down or Shake and Shiver.

Hazuki and Saki are the best guitar duo out there . Their new album Revive is excellent
They did a number of covers when first getting together and starting to write their own songs. The covers are cool but I personally prefer their original music like Revive, Oiran, Raitei, Monsters, Sorai, and more. Definitely check out some of those.
Time to try the all female Japanese metalband Lovebites, try the song “Holy War – live in Tokyo”.
Not only is Hazuki a shred queen but she has the most talented eyebrows in japan LOL .They do by fare the best MTH covers out there and please look into the Originals there the best new band of the moment
The way they mix up subgenres and styles is just super refreshing to see, it feels like every song has it’s own life
Maximum the Hormone are probably most Japanese rock musicians’ favorite band. They have inspired a whole generation and their drummer Nao is an important role model for the female rockers.
7-string bass ? I recommend ASTERISM, a wonderful hard Japanese trio.
Keep the NEMOPHILA comin!
Nemophila + MtH is a guaranteed good time. You should definitely check out more of both bands. From Nemophila I recommend Revive, from MtH I recommend Yoshu Fukushu and absolutely listen to Hanabie – We Love Sweets!
Next Band-Maid could be Blooming or Secret My Lips
Hazuki is my fave. If you want to see more of her. Check out Disqualia https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-M5zBKrTJRg and Rami Reloaded https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMjVzjpgO-k
The same 3 are in both videos – Two guitars Hazuki and Narumi and Riza*Riza on drums… Also check out Li-Sa-X Band. Hazuki is there as well.

INDEED, OH HAZUKI.
