Wow, I haven’t listened to these guys in a while. Good choice!
Straight 🔥. I wonder if that band at the beginning was them dressed in regular street clothes or perhaps some band that bad mouthed them. Either way they showed a clear distaste for them. Finally R.I.P. Meat Loaf.
Mby react to Alien by Maximum the Hormone
Crazy fun to listen to, so tight, and loving the way they hand off lead singing to each other
Chaos is what makes them unique ! Love it. Thank you for reacting to this video.
Welcome to one of my two favorite bands (the other being Tool)! You should definitely check out more of their stuff. They don’t have many music videos on youtube, unfortunately, but they’re on Spotify.
Parts of the song did remind me of Tool. You should definitely review some Tool songs like Forty-six & 2′ and Schism. Thank you for all your content.
These guys should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They are even better live.
Wow, I haven’t listened to these guys in a while. Good choice!
One on Japan’s best kept secrets. Probably the best punk metal band there is. Check out “Youshu Fukushu” “ALIEN” or “Hungry Pride”
Glad you mentioned Ue-Chan’s great bass playing. He tends to get lost in the shuffle when it comes to YouTube reactions for MTH so great to see someone put respect on his name. For more great Bass playing I recommend their songs F and Hungry Pride.
Also a little backstory on this song in particular. MTH love to mess with and play around with their fans. This song is actually supposed to be paired with another one titled “Your Small Hand” (You saw a small snippet of it play at the start of this song right before Ryo the guitarist threw up on the TV) That song is about motherhood and wanting to be a mother. At around the time before these songs were released it was announced that Nao the drummer was pregnant and would have to miss out on the bands upcoming tour. A minority of fans would complain about this. When Nao returned the band made an announcement saying that they were gonna tone down their style and make family friendly music since Nao was now a mother and wanted to make a good impression on her child.
This was done specifically to upset the fans that complained about Nao going on maternity leave. Most people didn’t believe it at first but when they saw “Your Small Hand” it started to look like they were telling the truth about the change of styles. Of course that song would then transition into “Maximum The Hormone” and would show that they were indeed not getting any softer. The Music Video for “Maximum The Hormone” also shows pregnant women with strollers as backup dancers to once again poke fun at the fans who complained. You’ll find TONS of other songs of MTH were they like to have a good laugh and poke fun at their fans and sometimes even themselves so be on the look out for that.
This is one of my favorite bands ever! Found them like many through Death Note, but then just listened to more and more. They should get a lot more atention.
sokoninaru (そこに鳴る) are an incredibly talented Japanese power trio that deserve more attention. My favorite song is their cover of “Yoru ni Kakeru” (夜に駆けるlit. “Racing into the Night”), by the duo YAOSOBI. The original song is keyboard based, so sokoninaru’s cover sounds refreshingly different and is much more intense. They made two versions; I’m referring to this one: https://youtu.be/0s5Fh6fv2A4 .
Check out also sokoninaru’s note-perfect cover of MAXIMUM THE HORMONE’s あ・り・あ・ん (alien).
Great reaction. Love the hypnotic sound to the bass in this. Maximum the Hormone are indeed awesome. Such a fun band.
You should also do the Japanese band Unlucky Morpheus. Black Pentagram or Unending Sorceress are great songs to start with. And please do Lovebites again. A Frozen Serenade is very different from Holy War and I’m sure it would impress you. These ladies are fantastic. Here’s a link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-R1wJ3Xygog
Wow, wild, I’ve never heard of them. Love the variety you react to. I had just rewatched a video you did of Harry Styles which brought me to this video. Harry is going to be coming out with his third album soon. There is a lot of his music you haven’t done yet. Do you think you could check out some other songs before the new stuff comes out?
Welcome to the wonderful music waterfall and tsunami that is Maximum The Hormone. Fall down that musical wormhole. I did and pretty much turned into a huge fan. Their method absolutely works for them.
Great reaction as usual! I would like to suggest a video for you to react to…it’s a cover of Andy James’ Angel Of Darkness performed by a young Chinese girl who goes by the name Yoyo. I would really enjoy getting your take on her skills. Keep rockin’ and stay heavy!
Yeah MTH is really fun, and most importantly you never know what comes next!
There are 3 bands that give me that same impression, of not knowing how the next song will be:
– Maximum the Hormone
– BabyMetal
– Nemophila
Really really amazing, thank you!
Hi bro. Love your content. Look I assume you already know these three artist but if not. You gotta check it out. 1: Dream Theater. all graduates from Berkley in music and amazing. 2: Lacuna Coil. First rocker chick lead singer and amazing. 3: Tommy Emmanuel. Guitar genius who inspired many including Alip Bata. Much love and keep on keepin on J.
If you get a chance, check out “Tenohira De Odoru” by Sokoninaru. It’s mathcore, so not as heavy as MtH, but has some similar elements in regards to multivaried styles and changes within the same song.
Maximum the Hormone = The Father(Undisputed)
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas = The Brother
PassCode = The Sister
Paledusk = The Lost Cousin
More MTH songs coming!!!
More Maximum the Hormone 🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿
Chaos is what makes them unique ! Love it. Thank you for reacting to this video.
The album that this song is from is my favourite Japanese album of all time, and that’s saying a lot as there are a lot of awesome albums by other bands.
I feel like the typical MTH song has enough solid riffs in it to make anywhere from 2-5 other really good songs for any other band, sometimes not even returning to them. For some of their other songs, I’d recommend Yoshu Fukushu, for newer stuff, Let’s Talk About the Future of Menkata Cotelee, and Hungry Pride, and for some of their older stuff, What’s Up People, Zetsubou Billy, Koi no Mega Lover, or Tsume Tsume Tsume are all fantastic
Thanks for Doing MTH. I appreciate their music even though I tend to swing more to the J-pop side. You should check out Myth & Roid when have some time – Panta Rhei, LLL, Voracity, Styx Helix are some of their songs. Their more of a rock/pop band but cool stuff.
More Maximum the Hormone 🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿
Wow, I haven’t listened to these guys in a while. Good choice!
Thanks for your reacting video😇❤️
I’m Japanese and I love Maximum The Hormone.
Also I love how they change melody in the middle.
It’s like a stillness and motion, we say it “Wabi Sabi” 😂
