Not sure if this has been pointed out, but the only female in the band is the drummer, Nao, who is the older sister of the guitarist, Ryo. Couple other fun facts, the harsh vocalist, Daisuke, is also a drummer and hand percussionist. The bass player, Futoshi, is inspired by Flea. So much so, he plays the same bass and has a same tattoo as Flea 🤘😊🤘
The drummer NAO is the major inspiration for most of the metal female drummers in Japan, since she proved that you can be a mom and still be a successfull professional drummer 😀
Maximum the Hormone (MTH) had a huge rise in popularity when the anime for “Death Note” was airing, since they wrote the closing and ending songs for season 2! THey also sometime have fun trolling people and also their own fans xD
Now you finally reacted to my top 3 favourite Japanese artists! Babymetal, Nemophila and Maximum the Hormone! One thing in common for these bands, is that they change their styles a lot, and when a new song comes out you can never know what to expect!!
The 1st video you played was a sample of songs from the Maximum the Hormone album titled Yoshu Fukushu. Every song on that album is worth checking out 🤘😊🤘
Sounds like you initially got the whole album preview, then got into the title track. Maximum the Fun, even though this song is about the serious subject of bullying and alienation. MTH can make you enjoy the serious, the common and the ridiculous, all with so much style. For some serious style shifts check out the songs “Maximum The Hormone II” and “ALIEN”.
MAXIMUM THE HORMONE is on another level at every possible angle. Genre wise, they pretty much ‘define their own’. They won many awards in Japan and quite well known outside of Japan. They once appeared in Hellfest (main stage – with Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, etc.) and many times in Slipknot’s Knotfest; solo toured in South America, Europe and East Asia, as well as UK (with rock band Enter Shikari).
Their presence and success has inspired many metal bands in Japan. MTH is very successful up to a point that they franchised the band into ‘2nd store’ band: CORONANA MOREMOMO. Yes, Murata Tamu (NEMOPHILA drummer) crashed that band’s audition by making a surprise appearance to pay homage to Nao (MTH drummer) and to play one session with MTH members. Hara-chan (NEMOPHILA bassist) used to play using pick and it was Ue-chan (MTH bassist) who inspired her to learn finger style and slap technique; and MTH made her dreamed to be in such fierce band. She mastered both techniques and now living her dream being in a fierce band.
