Oh yes, welcome to the weird and wonderful world of MTH…one of the greatest cult bands in Japan and my favourite. Been a fan for over a decade. This a brave first choice as it’s bizarre even in MTH’s standards. Took me ages before but I have a general summary for this so hopefully will give light so some of the intrigue here.
The end part is a sarcastic collection of a number of subtle satires and digs at music consumption and some musicians. Winny was a pirate software program where music could be uploaded free. Also serious references to bands who sell out and change style radically just for commercial success and popularity at the pressures of the record companies. This is the reason for the extreme and sudden change in style in the song, and the tout of time lip syncing during the commercialised matinee type performance. Also at the end, the verbal exchange between Nao (drummer)and Daisuke-han (lead singer), she points out that Winny isn’t even around, so the whole exercise is pointless and that the face he makes resembling to his mother and it’s scaring the children, then he kinda breaks down for getting his mother involved in this too….. all this just enhances the intelligent nuances the band creates to achieve an overall sense of mood. They are masters of that of course. This Yoshu Fukushu album is a masterpiece, with a fairly coherent concept of bygone school life and youthhood….sorry for the long ramble but it’s worth diving deep into their messages (though sometimes there aren’t more than surreal provocations or complete nonsense 😂)
A truly one of a kind and revolutionary band! Hope you’ll check out more of their materials.
Great reaction RM. Next “Yoshu Fufushu”, crazy song too. I see them 2017 or 2018, I don`’t remember well in my country Chile. This 2022 MTH tour for Europe…Nao the drummer was the inspiration for Akane from Band Maid…
G’day Ronin, glad you’re on board! When you get too near the Japanese rock music rabbit hole… you always eventually run into Maximum The Hormone. Some people take it in their stride, others just don’t handle it at all well! Twenty years of crazy tempo-crunching ska-punk-pop-metal-rock, and I _LOVE_ it. Wouldn’t miss their tour this year for anything.
Oh yes the Legendary band Maximum the Hormone! Thanks to the anime Death Note, it helps the band more popular outside Japan.
By the way didn’t you know Murata Tamu (drummer of Nemophila) tried to audition on Cottele band, like the mirror band of MTH.

Japan have a lot of “one of a kind bands” that sounds like no other band! BABYMETAL, X-Japan, BiSH, Genie High…it’s not even possible to list bands, there are too many… and Maximum the Hormone are one of the greatest! We, in the western world have a lot to learn!
They have 2 songs for deathnote; “Zetsuo Billy” is also by them. Since you’ve probably already heard that song, I’d recommend Yoshu Fukushu, Hungry Pride, or either of their self-titled songs, Maximum the Hormone I or Maximum the Hormone II (also known as “Let’s Talk about Menkatte Cottelee”)

Just FYI, the opening and closing songs of death note are from this band. So you probably know two of their songs and just dont know it lol

If your enjoyment of music is based around finding your footing, if people request polyphia or sokoninaru they’re 2 bands that have their heart set on ensuring that you won’t be able to get a footing
If you dont remember it, you should do Zetsubou Billy which is the Death Note ending and has a Death Note themed music video! Yoshu Fukushu is probably my favorite song and another good one.
