I honestly think that the endings for Death Note are better than the openings. Zetsubou Billy is especially my favorite one.

I appreciate how each of the ending and closing themes reflect a varying facet of Light’s character:
OP 1: His initial dream of a peaceful world, as well as his foolishness in believing he could do so and the arrogance in his own capabilities that would lead to his downfall.
ENDING 1: His increasing conditioned detachment from empathy and human emotions as a result of power.
OP 2: His descent into utter madness and god-complex driven insanity, from the point of view of Ryuk, taunting him and occasionally even being horrified by his cruelty.
ENDING 2: The upbeat vocal melody reinforcing that a small part of the idealistic teenage boy that wished to save the world still exists in his interior, but surrounded by his pride, narcissism and cruelty (aka the ultra-grungy guitar riff), the visuals depicting him failing upwards and eventually crashing down hard.
For skipping the end I never realized how good it was
