麺カタコッテリで腹ペコラー!
I have been waiting 11 years to witness the force of nature that is Maximum The Hormone, and it very nearly didn’t happen! This is the story of how I ended up at the heaviest concert of my life.
Please let me know your thoughts on this band, or share your own near misses of great concerts in the comments. Like this this video if you want to to see me continue down this vlog route. I probably will anyway, but maybe I’ll put a bit more effort in! Finally subscribe if you want to see me chatting about music, video games, and general anecdotes.

Yes, mate, that was a fantastic gig! Glad you took the time to record your thoughts. I had an AC/DC shirt on – because I’m that old – and have also been waiting a long time for this show. The crowd was mostly friendly, a great atmosphere, and very physical in expressing their joy! It’s been days, I’m still a little sore, and I’m still smiling. Peace.
Best concert I’ve ever been to, flew over from Ireland for it. 40 mins in queue for the atm and when I finally get near the front the bouncers tell everyone the card machine is working now so everyone sprints to the merch stand queue and eventually managed to buy a shirt and towel. Was in the mosh pit for basically the whole concert it was so hot in there and I was absolutely drenched in sweat but it was great. Never thought I would be able to see them live, so happy that I came over for it.
I was at their concert in Cologne two days before this one and it was great! Definitely one of the most fun shows I’ve been to.
I knew about it since the day it was announced and I couldn’t believe it would actually happen. Like many others I sort of accepted that I would never get to see them live.
This tour must have been special for the band. There are still a bunch of restrictions for concerts in Japan (people have to wear masks, cant move around or shout), so I’m sure they were happy seeing the audience go nuts and sing along 😄
I really hope we don’t have to wait another 11 years for the next time 😅
The diversity of their their fanbase is indeed interesting. I’m not sure if you’re familiar with the band HANABIE (花冷え。) but they started covering Maximum the Hormone in middle school. For some reason I really like the idea that a bunch of middle school girls got together and decided that that’s the kind of music they want to play.
That was great to listen to! I had the pleasure of catching their concert in cologne – but it was a 10 hour journey to the venue for me and almost everything that could have gone wrong on the trip did. I planned to arrive just after four o’clock at cologne train station and but by the time I got there it was already past 7! Then there were some problems with the train to the venue so I had to run there and just arrived about 5 minutes before the show started – with all the merch already sold out! (I’ve never been to a show where the merch was sold out BEFORE the show – they definitely should have brought more ^^’).
It was one hell of a show!
And I have to say I love their no-phone policy. Just imagine having dumb, unmoveable, filming human lanterns standing in a crowd like that. They would inevitably disturb the way people are moving. I can tell you how much this stupidity almost destroys every Dir en grey concert for me for the past 13 years….their concerts have been NUTS before people started to just stand there and look at the band through their phones – and I don’t understand why people would even want to do that when they have the band right in front of them. Memories aren’t made by putting them on video, they are made by being lived, and it sometimes feels like a lot of people nowadays rather want to recreate an experience that has never been by looking at what they could have been experiencing if they had actually been fully there – body and mind.
