Intro song Be Yourself (Instrumental) by Sinyells Music provided by Smokinkat Records
The first MAXIMUM THE HORMONE song I heard was A.L.I.E.N and I have to admit I didn’t understand anything. The music was pure chaos. I was like “What the hell?!?!?” Since then, they are also one of my favorites. I usually introduce everyone who has never heard MTH before with the song A.L.I.E.N, just to see their confused face… 🤣
It’s funny how one thing leads to another. Since getting caught up in the Japanese rock and metal scene, I’ve started learning Japanese. Mostly because I’m triggered by everyone saying it’s so hard to master. But that also seems to be the only way to find information or read about the music. It is rare to find English translations. Anyway, I have a problem with it.
What I’ve learned so far is that Japanese is a mora-based language, unlike most Western languages which are syllable-based. Each mora takes roughly the same time to say. Tsume has 2 moras (tsu/ me/). BAND-MAID (in Japanese they say BANDo-MAIDo) has 6 moras. (BA/ N/ Do/ – MA/ I/ Do/). So what to look for is the vowels in a word and pause there, so each syllable (consonant(s) and vowel) takes the same amount of time to pronounce. Then comes the problem of pronouncing it correctly. Something that differs from language to language in how difficult it is. As a Swede, I have no problem because all their sounds are in my language. The difference between the languages is that the vowels in Swedish are emphasized a little longer than in Japanese. This is why Swedish sounds a bit “singing” when we speak.
Okay, all of this might sound a bit like bragging, but don’t take it that way. I’ve just become very fascinated with the Japanese language. Nothing else… 😆
It means nail or claw. Marty Friedman of Megadeth fame is a big fan he actually made an instrumental cover of this song.
Wow! Great reaction as always! Next song could be “Maximum the hormone” (like their name). You can find it by searching for “マキシマム ザ ホルモン maximum the hormone Music Video (Full ver.)” on YouTube!
nail nail nail
This band is so unique, so ecclectic …i discovered them a month ago and im obsessed hahah, you should check them live, theres a full show divided in 4 parts called “pre attack and revenge “, its not on YouTube, its in dailymotion.
They’re also very funny and make like funny breaks between songs. Cheers from Argentina!
The Hormones are at Maximum level!
Next song, way more recent: HUNGRY PRIDE
