This is my favorite Japanese band they are called Maximum the Hormone. They did the 2nd Death Note opening which you should check out at some point. They are commonly described as the Japanese System of a Down which is an appropriate title but they have influences from multiple other bands such as Tool, RHCP and Pantera. They like to cycle through multiple genres of music within their songs and they do a good job of it. The bassist is a huge Flea fan so their bass work on songs are really well done

I’ve found enjoyment in analyzing these songs with you. I’ve never been one to truly sit there and digest what I’ve heard, picking apart the small details of songs. I’ve only liked the sounds of some songs and disliked others on a general level. Thanks for these videos, love them.

The first time I couldn’t even understand what I was listening to. Now, after hearing it again and again so much it sounds two-hundred-million times better. 🙂

I love that these OPs and EDs are often “chopped up” to fit the chainsaw theme, this song is no exception with so many drastic shifts in style and tempo change.

as an anime only viewer this is my interpretation of this Ending:

1st Part: what the main protagonist had gone through
2nd Part: his transformation
3rd Part: met the one that changed his life
4th Part: how he is currently

Love the breakcore elements in this song. It was a treat to see that this song affects Tony as much as it does the non-musically inclined listener.

As someone who read the manga, it definitely feels like the course of the track is reflective of the course of the story. Without getting too specific, it has a lot of tonal shifts that are very sudden. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were trying to channel the various different tonal feelings of the story and put it into musical form.

The band that did this song is called Maximum The Hormone. Huge influence on the Japanese Metal Scene. Metal, Avant-garde, Pop, all mixed together. Definitely worth a dive into. Check out Hungry Pride. One of there Album Cuts. They have done Anime stuff before, though. Namely Death Note Op 2 and Ed 2. The female Singer is also the Drummer. She does both at the same time. Crazy Band.

The song is very great and well fitting with the show indeed, with 2-3 tempo variations. But im not really a fan of screaming in songs 😅

As a fan of the original manga I really enjoyed how much the different parts of this song represent the overarcing story of Chainsaw Man, as it goes from chaos to a short devine feeling and ends with a very energetic part and some great lyrics that really describe the 3 main characters of the series.

The ed is a good portrayal of the progression of the show. The story at multiple points simply doesn’t care about normal plot progression, so sudden tonal shifts is very much appropriate. It’s fantastic.

This has to be one of the most different and original ending out there, never heard something similar lol I love it

Maximum the Hormone is absolutely amazing. Fun fact: the drummer is the female vocalist. Watching them play live is stunning.

You really have to checkout Maximum The Hormone, they are one of the popular heavy metal bands in Japan and are very known for their crazy tempo and mood changes in their songs sometime done in a serious way and other times done in an ironic way depending on whatever the song is about, at first you think it’s weird but then you get used to them and just love it

I love that song because MTH is just so creative with everything they do. Every layer of their songs feel so full and nice. I remember when I started to first listen to them when I was around 16 – everything I liked before started to sound so dull and “boring” after that. They just top themself with each new song imo. Zetsubou Billy and this song are probably my all-time favourites of them tho. Especially Zetsubou Billy shows us how they love to play with genres and styles – even visually.

i'm just like denji

The reason i liked the ending is how well it portrays both the nature of Chainsaw Man and Denji’s journey(spoilers ahead)

The first part is obviously a nod to the first episode. I assume it picks up from the moment Pochita replaces his heart.
He wakes up and realizes his friend is gone and that, or perhaps every horror he’s endured till now, is the fault of those in front of him. All his negative feelings well inside him and he pulls the string, releasing all of it. The chaotic mess, concentrated negativity sounds like barely comprehensive cacaphony until a somewhat coherent tune forms and he lashes out.
Then suddenly it’s stopped by Makima, the very first ray of hope in his life and his first love. The melody sounds soothing and warm but even then there’s sinister undertones to it, it’s almost like the voice is lying to you.
Then with newfound hope he moves forward as if none of that happened, only to eventually loop back to the chaos he emerged from.

This is a perfect representation of the famed “chainsaw man pacing” and perfectly fits the series.
