Akane, drummer for Band Maid, has said that Nao, the Lady drummer for Maximum the Hormone, was one of her Idols as she was learning drums.
And Nao, drummer, and Ryo, guitar, are brother and sister!
And this song was the intro for season 2 of the very popular anime “Death Note”.
Love this group!!
After Babymetal and Asterism, Maximum the Hormone is probably my favourite Japanese band. Great to see you finally getting around to them! Although I love the song, it doesn’t quite show off their genius, and perhaps isn’t the best introduction to the band. Maybe _Yoshu Fukushu_ would be a good one to try next?

But there’s plenty of great songs, so I’m sure you’ll be happily surprised whatever you pick 🙂
Definitely listen to their songs A.L.I.E.N. , Yoshu Fukushu. , Hungry Pride. The band name is a play on words relating to a Japanese street food that is basically grilled organ meats. Enjoy the ride!
Thanks Joel! Long time MTH fan here too. A great thing is that when you start digging into Japanese rock/metal, you inevitably end up at the door of MTH – and either hate them or love them forever! I take my cue from so many other contemporary Japanese musicians who cite MTH as an influence, especially Nao the drummer an inspiration for the likes of Akane (Band Maid) and Tamu (Nemophila).
This is one crazy band, this song is tame compared to some of their others.
Rock on! I met this band like almost everybody because of Death Note anime opening (my favorite anime till these days), back in 2007 iirc, the whole album is insane and really something different, i guess because of bands like them i was very receptive when I met BabyMetal.
Thanks for sharing this Joel.🤘
Pls check Yoshufukushu next🔥🔥🔥🔥
Please, check MTH – Hungry pride 🦊

The Name” Hormone”: It is use in the traditional and japanese meaning: The name horumon is derived from the word “hormone”, with the intended meaning of “stimulation”, as in the original Greek. (Wikipedia:Horumonyaki)
