Maximum the Hormone are brilliant but a lot of reactions to them get blocked and reactors receive strikes on their channels so keep that in mind if you want to react to more of their songs.
This video plays with listener’s expectations. Because the band incorporates so many genres into their music people who only heard one or two of their songs [mainly through anime] had a certain picture of the band and were disappointed when they actually saw the band. They don’t look like typical rappers, are not part of the VK scene and so on. According to an interview they received a lot of letters from people telling them to ‘find their style’ – not musically as mixing things up isn’t as uncommon in Japan as it is in other parts of the world – but visually. But they just want to be themselves on stage and for them that includes wearing normal street wear. Nao, the drummer, in fact received some very nasty comments as people wanted her to look more feminine – which is such a stupid insult, she is one of the most influential female drummers in Japan and singing while playing the drums is one of the hardest disciplines in my opinion – she also has a really beautiful voice. So that’s why you saw that pop-idol pretending to sing her lines in the video. The band you see in the second part of the video [after you paused] is the real band. I love their social commentary and how a lot of their music reflects their daily lives and problems while still being very universal. Quite a lot of their lyrics are very much tongue in cheek and intelligently written.

This was the closing song to the anime Death Note. The video is poser bands who later are killed by the death notes. The band at the end are Maximum the Hormone. Best next song is Yoshu Fukushu by far.
