They have had a rash of medical issues within the band. First, Nao the drummer got pregnant, and the band took a couple years off. Then Ryo the guitar player/singer came down with a bad case of gout, and had to lose quite a bit of weight. Then Daisuke the lead/dirty vocals guy screwed his neck up badly and was in a neck brace for quite some time. Getting old means you can’t headbang like you used to! They were going to be playing Knotfest in Tokyo this month, but Japan has halted all public events due to the Corona virus. Hopefully this virus crap is over with in a month or two, and people can get back to performing/going to shows.

At the end Daisuke’s yelling about using Winny, Nao’s yelling at him to stop yelling, nobody uses it anymore, there are other things that they should tell people to stop doing. He keeps insisting people should stop using it. Then she’s saying all the kids left because of his yelling and were starting to cry. And then compares his face to his mother’s when he’s yelling. Then he says “It’s one thing to talk about me!” lol
They always try to bring fun and humor along with the Metal and other genres they incorporate. Great band and I hope they are able to tour more once this virus cools down.
On a side note, Akane from Band-Maid has said that Nao is one of her idols in drumming.
Oh wow, because 1 month passed I wasn’t expecting to hear my name at the beginning ahah, also glad you guys came back to MTH!
Okay so, since “erumi36” explained the problems they had in these recent years, I’m gonna tell you what they released after Yoshu Fukushu back in 2013.
They didn’t release much but here you go:
2015- “Mimi Kajiru Shinuchi” which is a remake of the second full album (first album under the “Mimikajiru Records” label) in 2002. They didn’t release an MV for that. It pretty much went under the radar of many people but it’s very solid of a remake.
2018 – “Korekara no Menkata Cottelee no Hanashi wo Shiyou” from which they released the MVs “Maximum The Hormone 2 – Let’s talk about menkata cottele” (<- transl of the title of the ep) and "VAP-dono" a thanks to their now ex label VAP. They moved to "Warner Music Japan" 2019- "Hungry Pride" MV from a DVD. They also had like 1000 people partecipate in auditions to make a Maximum The Hormone-similar band that I heard is gonna take their spot when MTH will retire. From that DVD, that band "コロナナモレモモ" (Cottele) released a single with 2 cover songs of MTH + 2 songs with a guest each. They didn’t drop off. They’re still making music, just check their youtube out. They’re on spotify too. A recent video clip that is pretty good is maximum the hormone (the name of the song is maximum the hormone), you guys should check it out, pretty dope.
The first song you listened to was probably Zetsubou Billy, based on the description of the video clip. It’s the ending song of the anime show Death Note btw. They also did the opening (the second song you guys reacted to)

Great reaction for a great song. Savage, brutal, melodic, chaotic with control, so many diversity in the sound. And they have so much fun doing all the songs like we have watching them.

After Band Maid, these guys are a very, very close second….only because they are not as prolific as Band Maid. As a side note (Which is how I discovered MTH), here is a clip of Akane of Band Maid-2015? playing drums (Kareoke drums?? ) to Benjo Sandal Dance https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ik6UBQmXW0 Nao, the drummer from MTH is a HUGE influence on Akane. Nao gave Akane the belief that a female could kill it on the drums.

If you want another band that kinda does this same sorta style, Twelve Foot Ninja is an Australian band that does a lot of the same “Genre-Slurry” that MtH does. Sick, or One Hand Killing may be the best for them imo.

I think MTH came out a year after SOAD did… So i think they established themselves almost at the same time as SOAD… and maybe around that time their music flavor brewed almost sounding similar because of influences at that time…that is why they sound the same.. we are just more familiar with SOAD.
