Maximum the Hormone 😈REACTION: II & Edmund’s Oast’s 🍻Sour Blackberry Raspberry @MTHOFFICIAL ​⁠

Hanabie started out as a Maximum The Hormone cover band in school, so they certainly have plenty of influences. For a lot of the other bands you mentioned it’s more that some of the members were fans (like Band-Maid’s Akane and Nemophila’s Murata Tamu because of her brother), but also that the 2 of them said that the drummer of Maximum The Hormone Nao, pushed them to become drummers. Nao helped a whole generation of female drummers get interested in drumming also because how she kept going after getting a kid (and a second one after that), which wasn’t super common. She also does vocals (like you saw in the disco part).

But I think a lot of bands at least have some influence from them. Maximum The Hormone started in 1998 (a little later than system of a down, but not by much) and their current lineup exists since the early 2000’s. Maximum The Hormone and System Of A Down actually get compared a lot. They have a similar way of mixing nu metal with other genres. I believe their bassist Ue-Chan is actually a fan of the RHCP, he is a great bass player. All the members are really good at what they do actually even though it doesn’t always look like it with how silly they can be.

As far as this video goes, I believe the whole thing started when some fans started complaining that the guitarist with dreads (the one on the bed in the beginning) lost weight, which he was told to do by a doctor because he would otherwise would have been in danger of having serious health problems. Maximum The Hormone loves to play with (and push back to) their fans, so they made a track about it. The stuff on the phone in the beginning was to old fans complaining that they were better in the early days (the videos playing on the phone were older songs).

They made some other protest songs against their fans as well (or against a Japanese download client). They are certainly worth diving into, although they tend to be pretty strict and block easily.

I started listening to these guys about the same time I discovered Lovebites and BandMaids 2 years ago but couldn’t quite get into them until I heard the couple of covers by Nemophila of their songs a few weeks ago. Now I can’t get enough of them. It might be fun to do double reactions of their songs cover by Nemophila and the original by MTH. These guys are so fun and unpredictable, they are insane, insanely good!

Your comparisons with other bands like SOAD, RHCP and Dillinger are very on point!
