Love this song. No band in the world like them. Love the chaotic genius of their songs.
Both Tamu from Nemophila and Akane from Band Maid credit Nao as a main influence on them , that a pretty good legacy right there. Listening to MTH is like driving at 100 mph along a narrow dangerous mountain road but you’re also totally whacked and blindfolded, fck yeah 👍🍻
I think it pays Homage to ALL the “genre” of metal from the U.S.
‘Koi No America” has the look of a Maximum The Hormone Sampler: it shows what MTH is and what MTH does. If you’re an MTH fan you knew they were going to throw as many off the wall curve balls as they could, and ‘Koi no America’ fulfilled that prophecy. This video was a HUGE production and they obviously exerted a maximum effort. It only makes sense that MTH wants a share of the American market.
I’m a Band-Maid fan and because they opened for The Last Rock Stars, I watched their stream from the LA Palladium where X Japan Drummer/Pianist Yoshiki made a statement about ‘The Wall’ that separates Western culture from Japanese Rock and how he wants to break through that wall. There are a lot of really good Japanese bands trying to break out of Japan right now and we should be supporting them.
I’ve been watching postings from Band-Maid’s NA tour, saw them in Detroit and Columbus, and I do get the impression that the Japanese really like America. Band-Maid particularly credits North American fans with saving the band from being dissolved and love touring over here. They too are MTH fans.
Damn, I want the whole song in that 80s style with just Nao! No idea why, but I love this part. 🙈🤣
It may be true that Nao is sometimes not talked about enough, but at least in Japan EVERYONE knows who she is. For many (and I mean many!) she is THE reason why we have so many outstanding ladies on drums from Japan today. The two most prominent ones are probably Tamu from Nemophila and Akane from Band-Maid. Tamu even participated in a casting once where MTH was looking for members for a new band. (Video ID: » Hi–VkbrF44 « from minute 2.58). Dear Tamu as a classic fangirl! 🤣👌🏻

The text at the beginning of the video actually says that the lyrics will be released at a later time.
The homage to Southern Metal and Pantera was epic. Please tell me you at least noticed that? In fact they did it twice in the video.
Excellent react. From my understanding, the lyrics are the typical gibberish designed to convey emotion and feeling. My take on the song and video is kind of this Japanese stereo type of America, aka what most Japanese think of America, and then mixed in their understanding and appreciation of American music, i.e. American Metal.
“koi no sperma” is another fun banger from these guys.
small side info — nao is a key figure in akane’s decision to play drums.
One more interesting fact about Nao: she’s been one of the first major female musician in Japan to keep on playing after pregnancy (she has two kids). Before that, musicians usually stopped their career once married and pregnant. Nowadays, it’s quite normal (look at Nemophila, Aldious, Gacharic Spin, Lovebites) but she was a pioneer.
Awesome stuff. MtH comes across to me as an evolution The Boredoms (also from Japan).
NAO is a drumming goddess 🙂 I could go with an all NAO albumn 🙂
Nao is the reason why Akane of Band-Maid started playing the drums. Akane also has a drum cover video of MtH’s song “Benjo Sandal Dance” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPgMD-nPITQ
Text at the beginning:
“This Music Video is a project to predict the lyrics of the song by aurally hearing the lyrics.
After the announcement of the results of the “Ore C U Hearing Championship! The announcement of the results
(scheduled to be released on YouTube around September 2023)
By turning on the “subtitle” function
you will be able to see the lyrics of the correct answer afterwards.
The band is actually running a competition for people to guess the lyrics so thats why they will be released at a later time. The lyrics are scrambled in this. Only MTH could think up this cool idea.
Nao is the one person responsible for Akane Hirose, drummer for Band-Maid, putting down her trumpet and taking up the drums. And one last point. Almost all these bands from Band-Maid to Nemophila and almost all the others absolutely love America. But don’t confuse. Just because they love the USA does not indicate that they all love everything about America. I don’t myself.
Yeah I heard a Japanese interview with them saying the video is about them trying to break into the Western music scene
めっちゃホルモン好いててくれてて好き
Have yet to see anyone mention Nao is driving KITT from Knight Rider. I am hoping the live ending is a hint of a U.S. Tour.
It is hard to believe that they are all in their mid to late 40’s.
Nao is Akane of BAND-MAID’s drum idol.
