Good choice to present this (imo most iconic) song to (the very likeable !!) Phillip as an introduction to MTH.
The title of the song means in free translation “revenge and forgiveness”. The guitarist, the younger brother of the drummer and band founder Nao, was bullied by his class mates in middle school for being fat and obsessed with mangas and comics. He is full of negative phantasies of revenge until he understands that these thoughts about the bad past prevent him from having new positive thoughts about the present. So he decides to forgive his former tormentors and concentrate on a brighter present and future.
The visuals tell this story: The video was shot in a former school building. In the beginning it shows his bad memories (“anger”, “f*ck you”) and shortly a pic of him as overweight school student. In the next scene the band stands in front of a manga book. The part with the brain (“fight”) repeats how deeply he was hurt by his bullies. In the fourth scene he walks with his band friends through the school hallway towards a better future. This is repeated by the designed part where he lies on the grass and a flower grows out of his back. He left his memories and made room for new and better impressions.
The intro and extro make clear that his sister Nao is telling his story.

Childhood bullying is a bitch. This song makes me emotional every time. Glad you dropped this nuke on him. Great choice! 👍

This is a full representation of MTH. Intentionally weird, heavy and soft at the same time and 100% badass.

Best introduction 😀 This was everything I wished for. We could all see that bit of confusion when Nao started singing after the way you talked up the band to Phillip xD
Fantastic!

MTH songs often sound like they got 5 different songs and just edited them together. But somehow it really works, because they sound awesome.

Although MTH has only a relative small repertoire, it influenced and inspired several other Jap. metal bands and musicians. Nemophila’s drummer Tamu confessed that it was Nao’s ideal as a female drummer that encouraged her to become a drummer herself. Hanabie started as a school cover band of MTH. There may be more examples I’m not aware of. Anyhow, whether you like MTH’s music or not – it is an important band for nowadays Jap. metal music.
Btw. “Maximum The Hormone” is a mistranslation. The idea was to express “Maximum The Entrails” (which you can eat as a dish).

Mr. Kriz should have some Japanese single malt whisky when he visits Japan. They’re among the best.

If the chillie peppers took one of those devastating 5 day tribal hallucinogenics and scraped themselves off the floor on day two to record an album you’d have mth.

“Last time I was there (Japan) I had Taco Bell and noodles…” Did you have any ramen!?🤦

You need to stop serving up Maximum the Hormone dry, this song is about the lead guitarist and the abuse he took while going to school and the rage he felt over that, that is why there is a picture after the first verse of the guitarist standing there with a butcher knife in a stabbing pose, every Maximum the Hormone song does have a deep message, even Qui No Sperma is deeper in its meaning that you need to add to you intros of this band

I love that you introduce these people to MtH but would love anything other than the same 5 songs.
