I really like this band but the label. You should be prepared and backup your channel just in case. Talking about progressive, please checkout the band Unlucky Morpheus, it’s a progressive speed metal..

Loving your reactions! Two recommendations for you: Yoshu Fukushu by Maximum the Hormone for more crazy awesome metal goodness.

Next, check out Band-Maid, an all girl rock band where the members dress up like maids and play kick ass hard rock. Nao-chan, the drummer for MTH, is the favorite drummer of Akane (Band-Maid’s drummer) and the reason she decided to try to drum harder and louder. And fwiw, when Jimmy Page (yes, THAT Jimmy Page) saw Band-Maid live, he went backstage to meet Akane. She, and honestly the rest of the band, are THAT good. Check out Domination (live), Blooming (music video), or Dice (Music video) as great starting points.

The Japanese music scene is second only to the american one in size. There’s a lot of great music coming out of Japan in all genres, and their rock and metal scene is dope AF

Thanks for checking this one out! Yeah, this is the ultimate weight loss song.🤣It’s Ryo being pissed that people liked the “fat Ryo” better. In the beginning, Nao, the drummer (and Ryo’s sister) is basically reminiscing over “fat Ryo.” Sarcastically of course

In heavy side of this song is the message from main vocalist who is totally tired of being unhealthy (getting lots of fatty food), and he managed to loose his weight at this moment. And he is shouting “I don’t want to go back to unhealthy life any more” throughout this song. On the other hand, female vocalist sings ” I don’t give a shit, go crazy my brother! we don’t want any healthy guy in our band”. And finally he gave up and eat superfatty ramen at last.

Love you guys for doing Maximum the Hormone! 🙂
Now there is more Japanese stuff to react to haha.
You already know about Unlucky Morpheus and Band Maid and Akane being a fan of MTH-drummer Nao (who btw founded this band together with Daisuke, the vocalist and 2 other musicians that left later and were replaced by Nao’s younger brother Ryo on Guitar and Uehara on Bass). Here is some more awesome shit:
– Doll$boxx, another all female band or rather project. it’s the singer of Unlucky Morpheus collaborating with the musicians of Gacharic Spin whom she helped out after they lost their first singer. Try “Take my Chance” and “Shout Down”. Awesome musicians, awesome singer, awesome band.
– Gacharic Spin, all female japanese band with a style that is mostly rock but with some electronic influences and stuff like that. Please check out some live videos because they are on the same energy-level as MTH and really burn places to the ground! Their musical style is different of course. Check out “赤裸ライアー live” or the MV for “Gold Dash” or the live recording of “Next Stage”.
– Lovebites, japanese all female Powermetal band, great singer, great musicians overall, awesome duo of lead-guitarists, english vocals. Try “Shadowmaker”, “When destinies align” or “Hammer of Wrath live” (in Wacken)
– Ningen Isu, Japanese Metal/Hardrock band that has been active since 1987 (!!!!!). Over 30 years of band history and over 20 albums and they just now start getting international traction. Did their first mini-tour just a few months ago. 3 great dudes, great musicians, lots of literature-based lyrics (turn on close captions for english translations!) and a more old-school metal sound. Try “Heartless Scat”, “Namahage”, “Live for sale”, “Colour out of Space”, …

My interpretation of the short play in the beginning is that the girl is listening to ‘tame’ Maximum the Hormone MV, feeling disappointed, and then recalls, “After all, Ryo (vo/guitar) was at his best when he threw up in the MV…”

The chat line says, “I liked Ryo more when he was fat.”

+1 for Band Maid, A Japanese hard rock (not metal) band – Domination live 2/14/2020 is a good place to start, or if you are into power metal, Lovebites is pretty intense. Think Dragonforce in prom dresses. Japanese music is just killing right now.

There are too many videos by Maximum The Hormone that you can’t find in youtube, idk why. But if you can watch “Bikini, Sports, Ponchin” I know that you guys are going to laught as hell. It’s one of their most bizarre videos.

If you’d like to react to more Japanese bands I recommend Crystal Lake – a metalcore band and a great one at what they’re doing.
I recommend checking Hail To The Fire, Apollo and Omega, but there are many more great songs.
This band never disappoints :3

LOL, I’ve been to Japan once. It is not as expensive as you think. The best Ramen you’ll have ever tasted you can find in small cheap mom and pop spots at the train stations. Less than 10 bucks, while to get the same in LA will be twice that and not half as good.

The literal meaning of “Menkata Cottelee” is hard noodle, thick soup, specifically a word used in a ramen chain called Jiro. They sung in their previous song “maximum the hormone” about how much they love that junky ramen and they would eat it day and night without giving a shit about their health. They were saying that their fat and greasy appearance won’t matter as long as they deliver quality music and continue to rock people. That’s why some fans complained when Ryo changed his premise and lost his weight (to be fair, nobody really knew he had serious health issues at the time). This song is an answer song to them, saying “fxxk you I’m gonna live longer than you”. Towards the end he redefines the word Menkata Cottelee, saying that he will live a cottelee(=thick) life, instead of just having a cottelee(=heavy, oily, greasy) appearance. That’s why it’s called maximum the hormone II and the more direct translation of the Japanese subtitle is “Let’s talk about the new meaning of Menkata Cottelee”.
I got goosebumps when I first saw the lyrics. It was SO cool.

Hi,i’m japanese.I tried to translate the last part of the music video.(10:24~)

————————————————————
——————————
ALL「Itadakimasu」(Thanks for the meal.)
RYO「Susuruzo susuruzo.Susuru TV」(I will eat it,I will eat it.Susuru TV.) *”Susuru” means “slurp”. “Susuru TV” is a Japanese youtuber uploading videos about only ramen.
DAISUKE「Egawa Susuru」*It’s just a joke.”Egawa suguru” is a old professional baseball player.”susuru” and “Suguru” have similar pronunciations.
NAO「Yamero! Tabesasero!」(Stop it! Let me eat!)
DAISUKE「Niku buatsu!」(This pork is Thick!)
NAO「Mite kono buta.Dare ga buta yamen.Yamero.」(Look this pork.Who the hell are you calling a pig.Stop it.) *It’s a self-deprecating joke.
DAISUKE「Kono buta ju-yon,ju-yon.」(This pork is 14,14.)
NAO「”Juicy” na?」(What you mean is it’s juicy,right?) *In japanese,14 is “ju-yon” or “ju-shi”.”ju-shi” and “juicy” have similar pronunciations.It’s a joke.
NAO「Ue-chan tabeteru?」(Ue-chan, are you eating?)
DAISUKE「Oishina,Ue-chan,Na?」(It’s delicious,isn’t it? Ue-chan.)
NAO「Ue-chan tabeteru?」(Ue-chan, are you eating?)
*Ue-chan wear a cap.
RYO「Deta!」(Here he goes again! )
DAISUKE and NAO「mou e-tte!」(It’s enough!)
RYO「Mada “Fun-mon” hikizuru?」(Do you still do “Fun-mon”?) *”Fun-mon” is “Funky Monkey Babys” ,which is a J-pop group.
DAISUKE「Hikizurisugi yate!」(You do it too much!)
DAISUKE「kosuruna kosuruna.Susure susure!」(Do not scratch, Eat it!)
————————————————————
————————–END

“MAXIMUM THE HORMONE(MTH)” and “Funky Monkey Babys(FMB)”,they are on good terms. And “MTH” make fun of “FMB” unilaterally.
Ue-chan wear a cap in this video, because he imitated “DJ chemical” who was one of “FMB”.(11:10 this CD jacket imitates that of “FMB”)
And in the first part of music video of”MAXIMUM THE HORMONE Part 1″,J-pop song,”MTH” made that which was imitated songs of “FMB”.(that song is used in this video too. 11:10)

I’m sorry about my bad English. But I hope you understand this comment.
Please do not attack my English. 🙂

This song is about Ryo-kun (the guitar vocal) , who used to be fat but has shaped him up well recently, as he got sick, gout. The lady in the colorful scene is the drummer, also the elder sister of Ryo-kun. She claims being fat is no problem and he should enjoy eating fat foods.

返信する
RipJagger

The girl in the beginning is checking out SNS saying that fans are noticing Ryo-kun the band leader getting thinner and how they used to love when he was fatter. This song is about the eating disorder, social pressure and their lifestyles that cannot get rid of unhealthy foods like “Men Kata-Kotteri”, al-dente noodles in thick pork-based soup ramen.

This has to do with a lot of the Fanbase identifying and idolizing the lead singer Ryo who has had weight issues this was like a come back for him after the doctors told him that if he didn’t lose weight he was pretty much gonna die

They’re singing about all of the health problems but it’s hard to resist when you think about foods you love such as ramen.

So, just browsed through the comments, and I didn’t find anything that actually explained this song or video. The beginning is playing older Maximum The Hormone songs. Showing the guitarist/singer as a heavy man. In one video it started with him vomiting on the TV, which you saw in this. The point of the video, which focused on Ryo(singer) eating at every chance, was to show that he lost a “ton” of weight. Basically, doctors told him if you continue as you are, you’ll die. So, he decided to eat better and lose weight, so that he could live and continue doing what he’s doing. This song is about the transition and how food is terrible for you(at least tasty food), but living is more important. It’s not about ramen.

返信する
Norio Yamaguchi

The lyrics of this song are said to be that if you eat a lot of ramen, you may get diabetes or obesity, but you don’t have to worry about eating ramen.

this title これからの麺カタコッテリの話をしよう is mean “let’s talk about (noodles hard and very oily) for now on” .麺カタコッテリis the way of order japanese say when they order “ramen”. 麺=noodles .カタ=hard.コッテリ=very oily.saying “麺カタコッテリ” = I want my ramen to made noodles hard and very oily. 麺カタコッテリis clazy slogan of MTH&their fan.
