“F” is one of their best songs, it’s quintessential MtH, no other band could have come up with something like this.

Originally, the song was written to Dragon Ball with out permission in 2008. Akira Toriyama who is the manga artist found the Song’s MAD video on YouTube, then Dragon Ball movie adopted the song in 2015.

Although the lyrics are about dragonball, Ryo explains that “Frieza” is supposed to sound like “Freedom”. That’s why the title is “F”, to convey multiple meanings.
At the time, there were lots of demonstrations on “free Tibet” in Japan, and he was supporting the movement through this song. The lyrics about Frieza’s invasion of other planets satirizes the oppression going on in Tibet.
Also, the word “poa” that you hear in the beginning and end means “death” in Tibetan. This word was used a lot by a cult founder Asahara Shoko, who is famous for his multiple terrorist attacks in Tokyo. Their cult had this philosophy that everyone who does not follow their rules should “poa”. So Ryo is actually using Asahara and Frieza as a symbol of dictatorship, and wants to “free” people from it. Ryo actually looked exactly like Asahara when he was chubby, so was imitating Asahara in the picture in the lyrics card.
The 33cjl on the cover doesn’t mean 33 cents but it’s read as “Mimikajiru”. That’s the name of their 3rd album but now the name of their management office.
This song is even more amazing when you hear it live. I hope you guys get to see them one day.

LMFAO I gave u the dates not for nothing è_é/

Anyway AAAAAAAAAAAA- YES! [F] is actually one of my favorite from MTH, and also one of my fav to play on drums! It’s so fun to play ahaha 😀
Also yeah, back then Nao didn’t sing that much. She mainly did chorus stuff, and sang only in “”””slower”””” songs (like buiikikaesu)

Some fun facts about this song. MTH originally wrote this song about oppression in Japan and used Frieza as a sort of inspiration and image to convey their message. Dragon Ball author Akiria Toriyama heard the song and like it so much that he made it canon and wrote an entire movie “Resurrection F” in 2015 based on the song and put it in the movie. Also those guitar harmonies and chopping you guys mentioned is a reference to the original 1984 Dragon Ball theme song Makafushigi Adventure/Mystical Adventure and the lyric in that section “Romance give give give me” is also a reference to the 1984 credits theme Romantic Ageru Yo/I’ll Give You Romance.

Love this quote about the bands name. When asked about the group’s name in an interview, Maximum the Ryo-kun stated “Take it as you like, it means anything from the Japanese cuisine for cooking animal innards to the sensation of the maximum amount of your hormones coming to the boil! Although when we go abroad people think we’re just some sorta sexual energy drink.”l

MTH is my favorite band and I will never get tired of hearing them. That being said I’m going to go out on a limb and recommend a non Japanese band “Make Them Suffer – Uncharted” I think they’re Australian, you may have even already heard of them.

Actually, this song has a hidden theme apart from the Dragon Ball Frieza.
The song is also a protest against China’s suppression and massacre of Tibetans.

I thought you’re gonna do the Live version lol, that video is super disco crazy as in there’s a disco ball on the center of the hall, everybody going nuts, they’re headbanging like crazy. Anyway what you’ve done is much safer, but that video is a crazy fun experience to watch 😀 /,,/

You guys have done some of the biggest names of J-metal and j-rock. Next on your list should be Ningen Isu, Aldious, and by far the most unique band Wagakki Band. “Wagakki” are traditional Japanese instruments like shakuhachi, koto, taiko, and shamisen (a type of flute, harp, drum, and banjo, respectively). Wagakki Band mixes these traditional instruments with western rock instruments to make a unique sound (and the singer uses a style of singing that descends from shingen poetry reciting, which uses different breathing techniques). Check out “Senbonzakura”
