I’d say they’ve evolved a little bit. Their earlier stuff was definitely more funk-punk with a little bit of a heavy on the side while their newer stuff has gone a fair bit heavier while fine tuning the other elements to compliment the heaviness. I mean compare this with A-L-I-E-N and you see the evolution. This has more of that funk-metal style while A-L-I-E-N is straight up Hardcore Punk/Metal. It feels like they’ve been fine tuning, refining and balancing it with each new album.
What I love about this band is how every member brings something distinct to it. Ue-chan is full on funk with that popping Bass. Daisuke is straight up dropping (or screaming) bars. Ryo brings melody to the table and Nao not only brings the beats but also brings her own Pop sensibility when called for with those Kawaii (cute) idol-like vocals. They all bring something unique to the table and somehow it fucking meshes so wonderfully well and gets better the more they evolve it and fine tune it.
But yeah, their style is still distinct and remains through out everything they’ve done. They’re genre mashers and they do it so damn well. They’re never not interesting.
