Some background about what is going on: you can see from the first scenes that the guitarist used to be much heavier. He was told by his doctor that he needed to lose weight for his health and he did. A lot of fans were not happy about him changing his appearance so much and would go online and tell him that he looked better and that they liked him better when he was heavier. This song and video is his response to those people. You see the reference to the excess food and aerobic classes and the puking on the girl talking about how much better he used to be speaks for itself.

Yes, that is Nao singing. She is a legend among female drummers and Akane’s hero (and Ryo’s big sister). She has influenced many if not most of today’s female Japanese drummers. They have been doing this for quite awhile now. And yes, the song does revolve around gluttony and the way Ryo used to live. You will see suggestions for the song Alien. If you listen to that do yourself a favor and look up the background story first, otherwise you will be lost (Even for a MTH song). It involves a file sharing site called Winny.

Hi OldSkuleNerd. Everyone gets confused when they see this band for the first time.
In Japan, BAND-MAID dru. AKANE, NEMOPHILA dru. TAM, etc. There are many drummers who have been greatly influenced by the drummer NAO of MAXIMUM THE HORMONE. Both AKANE and TAM started playing drums with their copies.
By the way, drummer and guitarist are siblings.

Yes Nao the drummer is singing the “disco” part. And she’s also Akane’s (BAND-MAID) favorite drummer. Nao is the reason why Akane pursued drumming intensely. For next MTH songs please check out “Zetsubō Billy”, “What’s Up, People?!”, “Koi no Mega Lover”, “Yoshū Fukushū” (my favorite), “Benjo Sandal Dance”, “A-L-I-E-N”, “Koi no Sperm” 🙏🏻

As mentioned before. The song is about fans who were critical of the guitarist Ryo who lost weight. He was told by doctors if he didn’t loose weight he would die. He did and some fans said the like the way looked better when he was fat and were critical of him. The girl at the beginning represented one of those fans. The part at the end where he is yelling into the megaphone he is listing medical problems associated with obesity. Keep them up 🤘😁🤘

Nao, pronounced “Now”. One of the favorite bands of Miku and Akane, and an inspiration to many. All of their stuff is this crazy. It’s lovely.

So great you’re experiencing MTH. You should check out their song “What’s up people” it was used as the theme tune to the Japanese anime Death note for quite a while and it’s a great tune

I’ve been watching Maximum The Hormone for about two years now. I still have no idea what the hell I’m getting into.

Yeah, the drummer (Nao) sings the female vocal parts; she’s a dynamo. Akane (Band-Maid drummer) credits her discovery of Nao’s drumming as a huge early inspiration for her. Max the Hormone for me is another band that is emblematic of the unique and creative music scene going on in Japan – an understated modern mecca of rock and metal.

The girl in the beginning is talking about how she misses chubby Maximum the Ryo. And yes the song is about appearances and eating. Yes and Nao is the one singing mid song

It is good to see a life transformed. Won’t suggest another Japanese band for now, as you have clearly a lot of MtH catching up to do.

Been meaning to check this band out for a while. That was wild. I actually liked it. Akane from band maid takes huge inspiration from this band. Can you imagine a band maid – maximum the hormone collaboration!!

Any female vocals you hear on their song is the drummer. You mentioned the talent on each of the members, the harsh vocalist can also play drums and bongos 🤘😁🤘

Let’s start with the fact that drummer/singer Nao (pronounced: Now) Kawakita is the elder sister of guitarist Ryo. BTW, be careful, Warner Japan blocks almost everything. But, your next reaction should be to Koi no Sperma by MTH.
