You need to check out their songs Yoshu Fukushu, Maximum the Hormone II -Let’s Talk about Menkata Cottelee, and Buiikikaesu. This band is the masters of transitions and genre mixing. Also you’re never gonna be bored listening to them 🤘

IT IS THE REACTION I WANTED! I love watching reactors losing their minds to this song. MTH never disappoints nice reactions!

Just to give you an explanation: WinNY was the Japanese Napster-like file sharing program. The whole song is a bit of a troll, and the band is making fun of other bands who sell out and change their style to be popular and complain about WinNY uploads and things like that (cough cough Metallica cough). That’s why the song starts out harsh and raw, then moves into something more melodic (that funky breakdown), then total pop. For additional context, a lot of the lyrics (at least until the “Stop WinNY Upload” part”) are actually talking about how there are important things we as society need to pay attention to and not distract ourselves with vapid entertainment and money. For example, the nuclear fallout from the Fukushima reactor explosion (note the mutated bodies and the nuclear imagery in the middle of the song). But then then band “sells out” and becomes alien, and complains about people uploading their songs to WinNY. Completing the joke, Daisuke (the lead singer) is yelling about WinNY when Nao-Chan (the drummer) starts to admonish him, saying there’s no point in complaining about WinNY because it is defunct anyway, and nobody uses it anymore, and he should stop crying and yelling because he looks like his mom when he does that.

Basically, MtH is saying, via satire, that bands should stay true to themselves and make good music and not worry too much about what’s popular or what will make money
