And the drummer of Maximum The Hormone is a woman.

Yes, a not well hidden trick these ladies have up their sleeve is that they can all sing. Tamu has done some of her own stuff so that’s well known but Haraguchi_San and Hazuki both have great voices (you can hear them in various projects and live shows) and Saki can hold a tune too!

I have seen video of Tamu the drummer playing very good piano and bass, and, I would guess she also plays some guitar as well. Many of these amazing femaleand male Japanese rock musicians are multi-instrumentalists.

The original band’s drummer (from Max The Hormone) is also woman, and she often sings! The band you check earlier “Bridear” with new line-up (but all female) have a new song “Bloody Bride”! Please, check this one, too. You gonna hear some very good drumming, also! Earlier, I ask you to check Doll$Boxx live, and you can do that with very good live performance from 2018. with songs like “Shout Down”, “Take my Chance” or “Karikuri Town”. Just check. With “Nemophila” you can go wrong! They are just awesome, and I like this smile of bass girl, very much!
Also, if you like metal instrumental (!!!) you could check Japanese teen-band “Asterism” with (let’s say) song “Light in the Darkness” (live). They are 2 boys (I think 19 and 17) on the drums and bass, and very young (I think she was 16 in the time of that gig) female guitarist! You wouldn’t be dissapointed, for sure!

Murata Tamu started drumming when she found out that women can play the drums at MtH. She is also auditioning for MtH’s backup band.

Tamu can do anything.
If you haven’t seen many all female bands, and especially those that last over time, you have a lot to discover in Japan. They have hundreds that are very good and dozens that are great.
Show-Ya really kicked it off in 1981 and after. They did part for awhile but are back together and put on an annual festival specifically for all-female rock and metal musical acts.
Princess Princess came out shortly after.
Aldious, especially the early years with lead vocalist-songwriter Rami. With Re:NO they took on more of a fantasy melodic metal thing, had at least one vampire themed video. Current singer songwriter seems to lean rather pop-rock IMHO.
Bridear has ranged wide in their tunes, but are at their best doing metal.
Cyntia’s earlier work rocked.
Bad Baby Bomb is a new and very different band. Right now they are on a relatively mellow sound with themes about being a girl. But two were part of thrash metal band Moth in Lilac so it will be interesting to see where this goes. They have Nicky, formerly of RiViNi singing.
Exist-Trace is visual Kei – gender-bending and genre bending. Lot of different tunes and approaches. Love them.
And Band-Maid. One of the greatest and most creative hard rock-fusion bands on the planet today. They understand groove.
Fern Planet. And the guitarist’s former group Rick Rack. Got some funky groove jazzy thing going. Just listen.
Gacharic Spin is like a madcap dance party masquerading as a band. Although they really are a good band. They have been using a couple of dancers to crank the audience up. Formerly Doll$Box when Fuki was singing.
Lovebites is speed metal and really good at it. Some folks quibble about that and say “power metal” but hey, listen to any ten songs and decide for yourself which is more apt. All are tops at their craft.
Mary’s Blood are pretty solid metal. Two members are in Nemophila.
Raise a Suilen is leaning toward stronger sound. I approve.
Rie a.k.a. Suzaku is based around the quirky star guitarist, and right now sound like jazz-fusion, really good jazz-fusion.
Scandal is pretty much high school pop rock. But they’re skilled at it and have been around a long time.
Point being, all those are all-female rock and metal groups that have been around for years and most have multiple albums, and those are just a few of what Japan offers.

Tamu the drummer is multi talented. SHe plays phenomenal drums, but, also plays sax, piano, guitar and sings amazingly. so talented.
