For a first listen I would usually recommend “Yoshu Fukushu”; it’s about the guitarist being bullied while he was in school.
The guitarist’s name is Ryo, from what I understand he is the one who mostly writes the songs, in a kind of way that sometimes it’s difficult even for Japanese people to understand it!
The Drummer NAO is Ryo’s older sister, and now is 45 with 2 children. She’s been the ispiration for most of japanese female metal drummers, because she also demonstrated that you can still continue to be a successfull drummer without having to renounce of being a mother!!

Maximum the Hormone are one of the favorite bands of other Japanese musicians, including the girls from Band-Maid. Thanks for giving them a look. No two songs are alike, so give them another try sometime!
MTH is all over the place. They have two songs that were OST for Death Note, Whats Up People and Zetsubou Billy, both are very heavy. Yoshu Fukushu and ALIEN are both tracks that go hard and finish…oddly.

i believe this also will grow on you (no pun intended, neh 😀 ) as it did on me. (it’s not their heavier nor fastest one btw). err… surely for an italian the chorus is a bit ‘peculiar’ but what can you do?
Kind of a weird song for a first MTH reaction and this one’s weird by MTH standards. Great band though. Probably the best punk metal band there is.

Nao the drummer has i spired lot of Japanese female artist in that she got a kid and still beeing an artist. That is not common in Japan. Traditionelly when a woman has a baby she goes to be a house woman. Nao is one frontfigure to still be an artist after childbirth in Japan.

Akane Hirose, the drummer for Band Maid, did not know girls could be drummers when she was growing up until she saw Nao from Maximum The Hormone. If you really want your mind blown have a look at A.L.I.E.N. from Maximum The Hormone.
Having never heard of this band, I was surprised they were playing to such a huge crowd. I wasn’t really sure how to react to the band, they didn’t seem to fit into a single category (although that isn’t necessary). Certainly different, more (for me) towards the ‘cute’ side.
Ayo, idk why they made you react to this song specifically but try other songs, you’ll fall in love with them! Please give this band another couple of tries!

Drummer Nao Kawakita is the elder sister of guitarist, Ryo. She is also the drum hero of BAND-MAID’s drummer, Akane Hirose.
I saw them live in London last year. The crowd went wild when they play this. We bopped along doing the actions. Most intense gig I have been to, I thought Babymetal was intense. MTH took it up several levels.

MTH is all over the map. One of the most influential and popular bands in Japan, they have inspired many Japanese rock groups.
Hanabie started as a Maximum the Hormone cover band. Nao, their drummer, was Band-Maid’s Akane Hirose’s inspiration to become a rock drummer.
