“That really took a turn” is as good a description of Maximum the Hormone as any. More turns than a maze, and a journey every time. Not as random as it might seem though. There is deliberation behind the madness with layering of messages subtle and unsubtle, inside jokes, and word play. They have a great sense of humor and the absurd, although they also dip into some serious subjects (still with a sense of fun and positivity). Super fun reaction – thanks! Will be looking forward to more MTH!

If you want another one that goes all the ways, check “Let’s talk about menkata cottele” or “Yushu Fukushu”, or more classic: “Hungry pride”.

Maximum the Hormone is the inspiration of many bands (Check Hanabie – We love sweets, for example) and Nao, the drummer, the inspiration of many female artists in Japan, including Akane from Band Maid.

Enjoy the ride.

BAND-MAID’s drummer Akane is fan of this band, and she decided to become professional drummer, because she loved drummer of this band NAO.

Love Maximum the Hormone they really are pretty intense. I would like to recommend my favorite Maximum the Hormone track HUNGRY PRIDE for future consideration.

Oh yes! I knew it was coming. What a ride you are in for. MTH will never fail to make you wonder, WTF. Absolute chaos in masterful genius. LOL They are on constant rotation next to Band-Maid on my playlist. Oh, and Winny was like the Napster of Japan. At the end, Daisuke-Han goes off saying: “We will not forgive use of WINNY under any circumstances! Anything but WINNY!”. Then Nao basically says no one uses Winny anymore, So no point in raising your voice. When the kid runs he yells: You hate Winny too don’t you. Nao says: “I said no one uses Winny anymore.” There’s a lot more that’s said but you get the jist. Also, that’s Daisuke’s mom in the overlay.

Daisuke-Han: Jumping and Yelling Freak
Ue-Chang: Slapping Bony Guy
Maximum The Ryokun: Singing and Plucking little brother
Nao: Thumping and Singing Big Sister

Formed in 1998 by Nao and Daisuke-Han

May I suggest Yoshu Fukushu 『予襲復讐』as your next song. I’ll link it below. I would say prepare yourself. But there is no preparation when it comes to MTH.

As folks have pointed out Nao the drummer(female) was a big influence on Akane of BAND-MAID. Early in BAND-MAID’s there was alot of folks who said they couldn’t play..they were fake…This is I would have thought down to the fact Miku wasn’t player her guitar in the their first MV “Thrill”….And some folks wanted to trash them…odd as alot of Japanese music is people not playing instruments…Anyway..to show they could..each member did an individual video of them playing to prove the doubters wrong…I have not seen MISA’s ..think it was taken down…but I have seen Kanami’s and Akane’s… And Akane is played a drum cover of a “Maximum The Hormone” track…Its an old video….but fun to watch. Check it out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPgMD-nPITQ

First things first: I love your eyebrows 😀
Second: They are way more political than people usually think. During the first part of this song they name a bunch of issues concerning the general and recent [song is from 2013] state of Japan, things that are mostly not talked about openly – and they are doing that in a concert setting, where people come together in an atmosphere which allows for a quite unique form of free speech. Then it switches to this Anime and Candy-colour television set and all the political issues are exchanged with the single news of “Stop Winnie Upload” [perfect with people campaigning against the server, lip-synching bands on Game Shows bringing the message across and so on] – But as it turns out: No one is using Winnie anymore. It’s all old news. But it still keeps people from caring/talking/thinking about more important issues so the media keeps screening news on Winnie.
When ‘news’ start to distract people from what’s actually going on, when the general public is being shut out from political debates…well it’s never a good sign.
And Third: You really surprised me with Pink Killer. Usually it’s saku or Obscure people from the U.S. talk about when they mention discovering Dir en grey during High School 😄
Dir en grey have been around for 25 years now and they will be releasing their 11th album in June [15.06].
If you haven’t heard them for some time I would strongly suggest listening to The World of Mercy [a stand alone single they released in 2019 which closes the circle of their previous album The Insulated World]. Here is a link to a live version with English subtitles

Winny was a Japanese equivalent of Napster – and a real problem financially for smaller Indie bands like Maximum the Hormone. They’ve been around since 1998, and some believe they were influenced by System of a Down. The conversation at the end is the singer complaining about Winny, and the drummer, Nao, telling him that Winny isn’t even a thing anymore. MTH, as they are known in Japan, is . . . weird, unique, unexpected, creative, massively popular in Japan. Many of their songs have social significance like this, presented in outlandish ways. They are also a personal favorite of me – and other slightly strange people. :0)

soo winny is an app or platform to uploading songs illegally.. if iam not mistaken.. so they want people to reuploading their songs.. however the site already closed now.. that’s why the drummer to stop being angry..

i can’t find your reaction to dir en grey btw..

And would you like to react to FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS?

I think Winny is a peer to peer file sharing program. I don’t know why they want it to stop, but I’m sure it’s got some bad actor in it. Or they’re just trolling, Maximum the Hormone does that too.

The songs name is A-L-I-E-N.
