Thanks for that one Wally! Once a reactor goes down the Japanese rabbit hole, they eventually come across MTH – not all survive contact. MTH have been playing since 1999, with a few breaks, and must surely be approaching Legendary status. There are a few more “straightforward” songs, but always done with fun and skill. Drummer Nao has been referenced by many female Japanese drummers including Murata Tamu of Nemophila and Akane of Band-Maid.

MTH are soo good in their story telling here…the first part of the video depicts what you would expect from a “True” Heavy Metal group and then the transition to a more polished group with cool video effects and then the switch…
We find Nao, the drummer, in a wedding dress with a Gaijin Man…that part symbolized the band selling out to a Western Producer and they start doing the bidding of their new masters by calling for a stop to WinNY Upload!
WINnY Upload in Japan was akin to Napster in the West, a music and file sharing system that eventually became obsolete.
As you watch the final sequence with the kids and the bad lipsync’ing, you see Nao and Daisuke-han fall into an argument about the fact the WinNy was already dead so why were they even singing about it and Nao says he looks like his Mother when he gets angry….and they put up a picture of his Real mother on the screen!! In the final shot we see Ryo chasing the girls with his pants down, representing the final fall into depravity!
It was MTH’s poke at the sellout’s in the business. Genius!!!

NAO-san is not only the drummer and vocalist, but she is the founder of MAXIMUM THE HORMONE, and the inspiration for a generation of Japanese female drummers.
Akane, the drummer from BAND-MAID, decided to become professional drummer, because she was fond of the drummer Nao of MTH and got convinced that woman can be a drummer in rock/metal band.

If you know the Death Note anime, they made both the Opening and the Ending for season 2: “What’s up people” and “Zetsobuo Billy”. They also did the song that convinced Akira Toriyama to make the movie “The Resurrection of Freezer”, with the song “F” 😀

Most japanese female metal drummers said that they started drumming thanks to her, including Nemophila’s Tamu and Band Maid’s Akane 🙂
Amazing band! Absolutely love their don’t-give-a-fuck attitude when it comes to music styles and standard song structures. But hey, you said “Chaos”…. I think you need…. Sokoninaru! Just so you get another brand of chaos. Try “Gou Ni Moyu”, “Tenohira De Odoru”, “Metalin”!
