MTH songs are usually trolling via their videos (eg. singer loses weight, people complain about it, they write song about health issues connected with obesity, etc;) like most of the videos you find are like that. Most normal are probably Tsume Tsume Tsume, Buiikikaesu, Zetsubou Billy; however most reviewed is stuff like “Maximum the Hormone” (video after drummer became mother, released in two parts, first the pop part, next day the whole video); the fat singer video (starts with Lets talk about Menkatta…), song that morphs to whine about now defunct mp3 sharing site (Alien), the VAP one about when they switch label from Vap to Warner Music… they have interesting and varied songs, lyrics are random associations and crap about certain topic, very rhymy, trolly, and utterly incomprehensible; 4 different singer voices… but IMO pretty hard to get into for non-Japanese

The biggest problem is that their official videos are really difficult to find! Many of them are no longer available on youtube, and you have to look for them on Vimeo or Dailymotion…
Probably their most famous songs are: “Koi no Megalover”, “Buiikikaesu”, “Zetsubou Billy”. The last one is the closing song for the anime “Death Note”! Hope to see you reacting on them again 😀

I love the you are exploring more japanese music. They are one of the few countries who lean abit more progressive in terms of music. I’m a babymetal fan, so i suggest their first two songs (iine and doki doki morning) for wtf type or “tales of the destinies” to challenge your musicality. Hope to see your descent in japanese music!

Hard to believe that MtH are 23 years old now. Often compared to System of a Down because of their playfulness – they are about the same age, so must be a case of parallel evolution. Led by drummer/singer NAO and her baby brother Ryo, with Futoshi on bass and Daisuke on screamo (probably the best at this in the World, as he makes it acceptable to me). Though Senri Kawaguchi is usually recognised as Japan’s greatest drummer, NAO must be the most influential in heavy music – Akane over in BM took up rock drumming because of her. If you are exploring Japanese rock you should dip into Sokinanaru, 88KASYO Junrei, Super Junky Monkey or King GNU
“A fun change of pace” well that’s one way to describe MTH music 🙂

Well, I love Maximum and I love this song… and everything else they do. Awesome band. Enjoyed the reaction a lot, knowing what was coming, was fun. Hope you do a few more, you will never get bored and always expect the unexpected…

But I would like to recommend/suggest a band that rarely gets as much attention in reactions as Band-Maid, Babymetal or even Maximum The Hormone… it’s not Metal, it’s not Hard-Rock it’s pure Pop, a japanese all-girl band called Silent Siren. They’ve been around since 2012 (first mini album release). They got a lot of sweet sweet songs (around 150 so far) but I would recommend “Limited” ( https://youtu.be/03q7k2baQE0 ) to start… Suu’s voice may be a little hard to appreciate at first (at least it was for me…), but these days I love the whole discography, the whole 150 songs they have. It’s pure Pop.
